Thank you to everyone who came out in July! We had a great time with the LA River Public Art Project, Community Band, Community Arts, Jazz on the Porch,, and the Arroyo Seco Cine Club.
August starts off with the LA River Public Art Project’s El Río de Aventura ribbon cutting ceremony at the Downey Rec Center in Lincoln Heights. This celebration of their Public Art Adventure Camp will have Tongva Cultural Bearer Tina Calderon, Urban Griot AK Tone, and County Supervisor Hilda Solis. The largest donor to the project will be the Grand marshall of the ribbon cutting. Will they get a special hat?? Come find out!

In partnership with Neighborhood Music School, we present Community Band—a series of creative musical sessions and concerts held outside in the park every Saturday. Led by musician Logan Hone, everyone of ALL skill levels, ages, and backgrounds are invited to join the band and learn an eclectic mix of music, including jazz, latin, folk, and original material.
The next Community Band is August 6, 10am-Noon.
July 16th – December 17th, 10am-Noon.
Arroyo Seco Cine Club is a screening series that mixes seminal 16mm film and video works with contemporary moving image artists, supported by a Neighood Purpose grant through the Hermon Neighborhood Council. Their next event is Pattern Rhythm Rock.
This program is indoors – masks and proof of vaccine required.
Wednesday, August 17th at 8:00pm.
Enjoy live jazz music on the Art in the Park porch throughout the summer and fall. Come hang out. Bring a picnic. It’ll be nice.
The next Jazz in the Park is Sunday August 7th at 1pm.
Community Arts in the Park starts back up in September, so keep an eye out for that. All classes, workshops, and events will be outdoors in Hermon Park unless noted otherwise. They’ll be fun!
And do swing by during any event at our home base to pick up your lovely print copy of the Los Angeles Artist Census . The Los Angeles Artist Census was housed in Art in the Park from February 2019 – February 2020 as part of the art artist in residency program (which will be returning this Fall!)
Art in Park is located in beautiful Hermon Park at 5568 Via Marisol Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90042. But please note, we really are in the park, so have a look at our directions to better locate our charming clubhouse.
