Natalie’s work as a painter and illustrator tends to explore themes of festivity and tradition, with strong overtones of spirituality, femininity, and nature. Although her work muddies history with fabricated narrative, her experiences and ideas are often rooted in pop culture and mass media. Fashion magazines, film, theatre, the processes of life and death, and classical literature combine with inspiration from the Impressionists, Genre Painting, Social Class Studies, Improvisation, and the United States Calendar Holidays.
