Performance: Saturday July 26th, at 3pm
Reception: 3:30-6pm

Elaborating on the “adaptives” of Franz West, the props made for “Pass the Prop” are made to be used by performers in a circle game.  Each of the clunky handmade props has several potential uses.  For example, a megaphone doubles as a large hat.  Participants pass the props, repeating or making up new things to do with each one, creating a lexicon of forms and movements.  As the number of props increases and passing goes in both directions simultaneously, the game becomes increasingly chaotic. The result is an experiment combining set elements with spontaneity, improvisation and humor.

This performance is designed as a game partly as a nod to the history of the Art in the Park space as a lawn bowling clubhouse.
