We work on a thorough exploration for the understanding of your own voice and body. The main focus of this space is to access body consciousness and awareness to lead you to a free vocal expression; we built a healthy vocal technique through active physical exercises, engagement of emotional memory, poetic imagery, improvisation games, and traditional vocalizes with piano.

Carmina Escobar is an experimental vocalist, creative performer, improviser, and intermedia artist from Mexico City who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Her work focuses primarily on sound, the voice, the body and their interrelations to the physical and social memory. She has intensely explored the capacities of her voice, developing a wide range of techniques that she applies not only to her performance and creative practice but also to investigate radical ideas and concepts regarding the voice.

She is on the Voice Arts faculty of California Institute of the Arts and is the co-founder of, as well as a vocalist in, “LIMINAR,” a contemporary music ensemble based out of Mexico City. Escobar is most widely known for her work on Massagem Sonora, which gained attention through its role in a large scale collaborative project with the Getty Museum in tandem with Machine Project. She has been awarded several grants and residencies including the Performer’s Grant by the National Endowment of the Arts in Mexico twice, and the 2014 NFA Master Artist Grant.

Workshops in music, visual arts, dance and film are given by local and international artists.
