Berta Sosa – Celebración De La Vida

It is with hearts full of gratitude for the life of Berta Elia Torres Sosa that we share the news of her passing on March 9th 2025.
Berta lived a life deeply rooted in family, community, food, music, flowers and the arts. Born in Tijuana and raised in Mexicali, Mexico, she came to Los Angeles at 18, and at 21, met the love of her life, Stan. Together, they built a life centered in love, family and uplifting their community.
In all she did—as a legal secretary, lunch lady, and director of Art in the Park from 1996 till 2017—Berta was a fierce advocate for her community. She centered community knowledge and connections, created beauty, stood up for what was right, and made things happen. Intuitively, she lifted others—especially those just beginning to find their voice.
Stan Sosa, Sabrina, Roxie, and her grandkids Ronan, Elia, Kiki and Nacho invite you to remember Berta, to share your stories, and to carry forward her light.
