Artists in Conversation

Please join artists Rochele Gomez and Vincent Ramos on Saturday, November 16th at 3:00 PM for a conversation on Gomez’s current exhibition at Art in the Park, Los Angeles Feelings. They will discuss the work in the show, growing up in Los Angeles as it relates to their practices, and making art in the current political climate.

Artist Bios

Rochele Gomez (b.1980, Los Angeles, CA)received a BFA from CSU Long Beach and a MFA from UC Irvine. She has exhibited at Artist Curated Projects, Los Angeles; Art Center College of Design DTLA, Los Angeles; The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York; and LAXART, Los Angeles, among others. From 2017-2020, she co-ran an artist-run space called QUEENS Los Angeles, where emerging and underrecognized artists were given solo exhibitions. She lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

Vincent Ramos (b.1973, Santa Monica, CA) received his BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles (2002) and his MFA from The California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, CA (2007). Exhibitions include A Universal History of Infamy, LACMA (2017), The Parable of Arable Land, If I Had a Hammer, The Wilhelm Scream, Conduit, Dallas (2015) Plum Pudding Peanut Island (Gilligan’s Squaw Fire Island II), Elephant, Los Angeles (2013), Made in L.A. 2012, Hammer Museum and LAXART, Los Angeles (2012).,His most recent large scale installation debut in early 2020 at Frieze LA at Paramount Studios. It drew from his research within the Paramount archive and examined the ways in which the film industry has portrayed both Chicano and Mexican culture during the 20th century, a subject he also explored while a Hammer Museum Artist-in-Residence in 2011 and 2012.
