This is for folks working on events and editing info for the website

Everything that happens needs to have an Event in the calendar
These should have the most accurate updated info about the event, with a focus on practical info for the visitor—time, place, what to expect, etc.

Things with multiple events and/or tons of info should have a a Programming page
The page can have more in-depth info about all the event, and should ideally link to each individual event. This would be the best place for lots of detail, like long bios, project history, references and links, etc

Every event and page needs an image
Every event and project of every kind needs a horizontal formatted image, ideally 16:9 ratio. These are used as featured images which show up as the header, and as a clickable icon in the event listings.

Most images should not have any text.
The event images should be illustrative and evocative, but should not convey any information which cannot also be found in the text they go with. Text in an image is inaccessible, and can’t be found by search engines, screen readers and other accessibility tools. We can upload further illustrations and flyers, but they should be secondary to the actual written info in the post/page.

Workflow: 

  • Create each event in the calendar
    • Need at least image with no text.
    • Image needs to be cropped 16:9 for headers and event lists
  • If there’s multiple or ongoing events, create a Programming page
  • Write blog post(s)
    • Tone: Clear, focused, warm. like the library but more creative 
  • Publicize to social media  — IG, Twitter, other, fb 
  • Compile blog posts for email newsletter (with a little extra subscriber sumpthin)
