PLAY READING by THORNE STREET PARLOUR
DOUBLE FEATURE! – for our final reading of 2025, we offer two one-acts, showcasing
the writing talents of two members of our stalwart TSP team! Flight of Fancy, by Adam David Green: a postmodern farce that explores the perils of the creative process and asks the question: If you had a choice, would you choose honesty with yourself over your artistic dreams? Flights is as bizarre as it is heartbreaking and is, perhaps, (occasionally) theatrical. (First staged in Hollywood in 2019 Hollywood Fringe). Long Story Short, by Sean Spence: In a sleepy Los Angeles café just before dawn, a group of regulars — a Gen-Alpha barista, a disillusioned writer, a heartbroken husband, a fading actress, and a man without a home — collide over coffee, dreams, and disappointments. With a little sarcasm and amoderate amount of caffeine, they uncover the humor, hope, and heartbreak of searching for meaning in a city built on dreams.

Thorne Street Parlous has been in existence for over 10 years – a groupof theatre-loving friends, gathering together to read greatscripts. For 10 years we presented an annual season of readings, initially in our parlour on Thorne Street, and then via Zoom during COVID. With the parlour currently under renovation, we’ve chosen to expand for 2025 and present our readings to a larger audience. Operating under the auspices of the Highland Park Heritage Trust, and with a generous Neighborhood Purpose Grant from the Hermon Neighborhood Council, we are very pleased to present our slate of performances for this year – all readings take place at Art in The Park in Hermon, CA. These readings are free and open to the public, with a light reception to follow. The favor of an RSVP is requested to that we can have an accurate headcount – we hope you can join us for these afternoons of great theatre! – jj Jackman & Sara Stuckey, Founders, Thorne Street Parlour
